Akademisk frihet i Belarus – seminar

31 мая, 2022 @ 17:00 - 19:00

Welcome to an evening focused on academic freedom and Belarus.
In collaboration with the Belarusian association in Norway RAZAM and Scholars at Risk, students at the master program “the Theory and Practice of Human Rights” at the Norwegian Center for Human Rights invite you all to this evening of solidarity with detained students in Belarus.
Our aim is to highlight the situation in Belarus after the elections in 2020 and academic freedom and freedom of speech. The event will be centered around the individual stories of two detained students, Marfa Rabkova and Yahor Kanetski, and the consequences they have faced due to their social commitment and use of free speech.
During the panel discussion you will hear from representatives from the Belarusian community, SAIH, Norwegian Institute for Human Rights (NIM), and the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC). The evening will be finalized with a Belarusian film
Throughout the event there will also be an exhibition by the Belarusian photographer Vadim Zamirovsky, which has gathered a unique portfolio of pictures documenting the protests and the government’s crackdown and abuse.
18:00 Belarus after 2020
18:20 Marfa’s and Yahor’s cases.
18:40 Panel discussion with:
